Christian No More

Oh freedom, how I love thee!
For in your arms I am whole.
Your gentle embrace soothes me,
And whispers, “rest” into my soul.

For it is my duty,
In this time and in this place.
To defend who I am,
From whatever can dis-grace.

Oh freedom, how I love thee!
Your way is straight; your path is true.
With your eyes I can rightly see,
All there is that I must do.

My life is not a story,
Of being told where to go.
Mine is a life free from Lord,
Walking paths I know.

Oh, freedom how I love thee!
If only all could learn,
This way is best we all agree,
To this we must return.

Beware! We cry in the streets,
Of those who deadly scam.
Those who aren’t as wise as we,
Who are helpless as a lamb?

Oh, freedom how we love thee!
Your heart beats true and strong
With your power in me,
I can never be as wrong,

As those who lay their lives down,
As those who give you away,
Looking to another God,
Deaf to what you say.

Oh, freedom how we love thee!
Even your church has lost its way,
In your power I can clearly see,
The plan for our new day.

We must fight now!
We must raise our voices!
For the time is coming,
When they take our choices.

Oh freedom, how we love thee!
Who will we be then?
Cast us not into the sea,
But let us stand as men.

The time is here! The time is now!
The battle tests our nerve.
Our enemies must be crushed again,
Now is not the time to serve.

Oh, freedom how we love thee!
The war! The fight! The prize!
Make them bow at bended knee!
Those whom we despise.

It’s true. There’s blood on my hands.
But this I have chosen.
My god demands allegiance.
And he has clearly spoken.

Oh, freedom how I love thee!
But I ask this thing of you,
Is this blood coming from me?
Or from the One who’s True?

I thought that I was doing right,
I thought that I was pure.
But now I see I can’t escape,
Of this I am for sure.

Oh, freedom how I loved thee!
I gave you all I had!
I wanted so to be as free,
As a god would in the land.

Now I stand amongst my hate,
His way I ignore,
I’ve chosen my god, and sealed my fate,
Christian I am no more.
