The Prayer That Will Change the World

Christians often talk about making a difference in this world. We firmly believe in the hope of heaven, and that compels us to share the word of God with a lost and dying world. Our world needs Jesus. Some of those we see in our world are very aware of their need for something better. They long for a life of purpose, joy, peace, and hope. Many are desperately aware of their sin. They are ashamed and guilty for a life not well lived.

And we as believers have the answer to that desperation. That helpless and hopeless feeling was experienced by many of us. Certainly we are aware that, without Jesus, that would be our life. 

How do we make disciples of those around us? How can we bring them a life of hope and forgiveness?

Jesus gives us the answer. It is in a prayer we offer.

And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2)

God has promised the harvest. People are being called to Jesus. All over our world there are those who are looking for Jesus. Some know it. Some do not. But God desires them all to know the good news that Jesus died for their sins and was raised from the dead.

Fields ready for harvest. God just asks us to go into those fields and gather the harvest. Planting Jesus-seeds, watering them, and seeing God give the increase. 

So pray for workers. Pray for those who will talk about the Jesus journey. Pray for those who will invite others to hear the good news. Pray for those who will teach the good news of Jesus. Pray for those who will walk beside the new Christians. 

The harvest of souls is ready. Just ask God to send workers from your community of faith into the field.
